Day 22 - "Astonishing Ajmer"

Hi everyone,

When we drove in to Ajmer, this afternoon, after a 400 km enjoyable drive from Hisar (Haryana), the welcome signboard at the City entrance said "Welcome to Astonishing Ajmer"! Truly, a lovely City!

State # 11 for us on "Our Discovery of India". 6,200 kms since our departure from Ernakulam. It's been 22 days of sheer awe at the beauty, versatility and diversity of "Incredible India". Salute!! πŸ‘πŸ‘

Post check-in and a short rejuvenating nap, we set out to see Ajmer.

Mayo College, 8 kms away, was our first stop. We cudnt go past the Main gate - security restrictions. Yet, what a beautiful, massive campus on both sides of the road, and, an imposing structure visible from the Main gate, which we guess is the main Administrative building.

From there, to Dargah Sharif, the Tomb of the famous Sufi Saint, Moinuddin Chisti. Built in the 13th century by Mughal emperor Humayun, this is a revered holy place for Muslims. To say that this monument is crowded, is an understatement! It was suffocating, to the point of being claustrophobic. Maybe, today was a Friday and a holiday (Holi), but the crowds were relentless and oblivious to everyone else around πŸ˜“

On the way back to the hotel, we stopped by at the Cathedral of "Our Lady Immaculate Conception". A beautiful Roman Catholic Church, inaugurated in 1898 - 125 years old!

The Lake Vinora, in Ajmer City, is a beautiful, serene, scenic spot. Ajmer, itself, is a City helmed in by hillocks. Lake Vinora has hillocks all around the lake! πŸ‘Œ

Lunch was splendid! A magnificent Mutton biryani (almost 6 pieces of mutton chunks), locally flavoured Chicken curry, with one Tandoori Roti. Bill 1150/-. Tonite, we go in search of "Laal maas", a traditional Rajasthani mutton dish. Available at a nearby resto πŸ˜‚

Tomorrow, 560 kms to Ahmedabad! 😁

Enjoy your weekend, everyone......keep us in your prayers, and....

Stay with us πŸš˜πŸ™πŸ‘
