Hello everyone!
Yesterday, we drove 180 kms from Jamshedpur to Asansol, in West Bengal. Asansol is WB's second largest City and Kolkata is only 200 kms away. Checked in to our hotel at Asansol and put our feet up, for some much needed rest and relaxation!π
Asansol was planned as a double-header, in our itinerary, bcoz we wanted to visit Chittaranjan, 35 kms away. Rajni's parents lived 25 years @ Chittaranjan. My FIL was with Chittaranjan Locomotive Works, for several years, before he took a deputation to Integral Coach Factory, Perambur. Going back to Chittaranjan, this morning, was an absolute dream come true for Rajni. The surge in emotions on seeing her old home, her Alma Mater, the beautiful Colony they lived in, overwhelmed her! Memories flooded her and, quite understandably, she choked! π We visited her old School, St. Joseph's Convent, met the Secretary, Fr. Arul Das, went to the old home she lived in, the Club where they used to play.......it was one of those rare, cherished experiences in life, that don't come your way, very often. We are so grateful to Almighty for having brought us to Chittaranjan, on this "Discovery of India". π
On the return from Chittaranjan, we had lunch at Ganga Hotel, Asansol. The hotel didn't even have a name board on the outside πIt was another fabulous experience π a taste of authentic Bengali cuisine! Pomfret fry, Bengali fish curry, mutton curry with Rice, Dal, Ghee, and potato curry π ππ
No. 4, Ashok Avenue - Rajni's home in her childhood daysGanga Hotel, Asansol π
In the evening, we visited Sacred Heart Cathedral, Asansol, a Roman Catholic Church, built in 1927! A beautiful, splendid piece of architecture!
Curtains down on another epic day......we get ready for tomorrow's 500 km drive to Varanasi!
Thankyou folks, cheer us on......and,
Stay with usππ
