Konarak Sun Temple - Day 8
The drive from Vizag to Puri and then on to Konarak and back to Puri, was an eminently forgettable 480 kms ! NH 16 is undergoing massive upgradation all along this route. Traffic diversions, bumpy service roads, zero signboards, are not what one looks forward to 😖 However, once we got to Konarak, the magnificence of the Sun Temple is to be seen to be believed! 👌Built in the Kalinga style architecture in 1250 AD, this UNESCO Heritage site is presently undergoing extensive restoration works. If Waltair Park in Vizag was a pleasant surprise, the Sun Temple was a dream come true! 🙏 In fact, the Konarak Sun Temple is imprinted on the reverse side of our 10 rupee note.
