Day 15 - Orchha - Seat of the Bundhela dynasty

Hi everyone!

Yesterday, Day 15, a 320 km drive from Lucknow to Orchha, via Kanpur and Jhansi. Orchha is in Madhya Pradesh, on the UP - MP border, just 20 kms from Jhansi, which lies in UP 😀

Orchha was founded in the 16th century, by Raja Rudra Pratap, a Rajput, as his Capital. On the banks of the river Betwa, this mostly unheard of town, boasts of Architectural marvels - Palaces, Temples, a Fort, Cenotaphs (Tombs of the dead Kings). In India's majestic landscape of Palaces, Temples and Forts, perhaps, Orchha is a hidden jewel. Crying out for support from the ASI or the UNESCO. The beautiful fresco paintings and the structures are presently being maintained by the State. But, sadly, disrepair is evident.

Our culinary journey continues at Orchha, as well ...😂 Fabulous food options and the Bundhelkandi style of cooking.

We are so glad we made it to Orchha.

Today (Sat, March 12th, Day 16) we head on to Mathura, Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi - 300 kms away.

Its been a wondrous adventure, this far...seeing Incredible India, up close, has been a very special gift from Almighty!

Take care, enjoy your weekend...and,

Stay with us 🚘😃
