Day 26 - Nashik

We motored in to Nashik, at around 1 pm, today, after a 360 km drive from Vadodara. Along the way, we had some climbs and hairpin bends to negotiate,
so I'm not surprised that the City is at an elevation of about 2000 feet.

Nashik took us by surprise! A very well laid out City, lots of high-rise buildings, wide roads, first impressions were really good 👍 In fact, people of Nashik were celebrating Holi, today. So, it looked like a public holiday. They call it Rangpanchami. Colours on the 5th day. The actual Holi, in other parts of India, was on March 18th. 5 days later, they celebrate it here. People of all age groups were bathed in colours, across the City.

Shirdi (Sai Baba) is about 60 kms away. As good friend, Kurian, pointed out, the Govt Currency Printing Press is in Nashik. He said he wudnt mind a parcel from the Printing Press 😜 Sula Vineyards (manufacturers of well-known Sula brand of Wines) is headquartered here in Nashik.

The Shrine of Infant Jesus, in Nashik, is a very famous pilgrimage centre. A beautiful Church! Another dream come true...

After a long time, we had rice, fish curry (Malwani style - with coconut milk) and Fish tawa fry, for lunch. It was gorgeous! 👍😀 😀 In the evening, we had a batata Vada pav. It was quite good! During the 3-4 years we lived in Mumbai (early 2000s), Vada Pav was always a favorite snack !👌

Tomorrow, we are off to Akola - just an overnight halt, enroute to Nagpur. We could not do Nashik - Nagpur at one go. Distance of over 700 kms. So, we decided to break journey at Akola.

That's it for now.... Day 25 was a wonderful day!

Take care......and,

Stay with us...🚘😃👍
